If I'm totally honest, I didn't want to like this book. Socially awkward schoolgirl turns out to be an android - it sounds a bit cringeworthy. But I followed the hype like a sheep, and I'm glad I did. Slow starting, I didn't warm to Mila's character until we'd left Clearwater and high school behind, and some kicking-ass began. It's refreshing to have a young female protagonist who gets over the 'denial phase' quickly and gets on with what needs to be done. I could 'feel' the growth and maturing of the character as the book progressed, almost as if it was spelled out for me on screen. And I'm sure it will be soon enough.I'll definitely be continuing the series. Technically I'd give it or 4.5 stars - losing half for the slow start.
